The rebooted Jim Kirk is the son of two Starfleet officers who later joins Starfleet himself. His journey in the reboot is a complex one. He loses his father on the day he is born and rarely sees his mother growing up. His father’s legacy, as a captain that saved many lives, weighs heavily on him. His journey to find his place in life by making mistakes and then finally finding more structure at the Academy is difficult. Yet still, he still struggles to find his place and fulfil his potential.
