My favorite characters among all characters, are minor characters, the folks populating the background. If a name is mentioned, or some extra has even a sliver of character, I jump all over it. Supernatural does a pretty good job of world building, but the story follows Sam & Dean with LASER FOCUS. I wanted a mix that spoke to the experience of the average civilian in the season-5 world, as things are getting weirder and more dangerous, and it's becoming impossible to write off supernatural forces as the domain of crazies, religious nuts, and conspiracy theorists, and people learn to live in that new world. Pardon my shit cover, the Sacrament Lutheran Militia is pretty much my favorite thing ever.
The idea popped into my head when I discovered and fell in love with the song Strange Things. :) I forbid myself from using any music I could imagine coming out of Dean's car. Concrit and music recommendations welcome!
